Meet Ian Rezel...

Our head physiotherapist with a heart as golden as his 1.5-year-old Golden Retriever! Ian’s journey into the world of pet physiotherapy began with a simple goal: to raise the bar for animal rehab in Singapore. Graduating with a BSc in Physiotherapy from Trinity College Dublin in 2017 and currently on his way to becoming a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP), Ian brings a wealth of experience from his 8 years as a human physiotherapist, plus a year of dedicated work with our furry friends.

“Welcome to The Pet Physio! Our brand was founded with the objective to elevate the standard of animal rehabilitation in Singapore and I’m excited to share in this journey with you.

After years working as a human physiotherapist and seeing how effective treatments can truly change lives, I knew I had to bring that same level of care to our furry friends. My goal is to help your pets live their best lives with personalized, evidence-based treatments and to share this knowledge with you, the pawrents. I’m excited to have you here and can’t wait to work with you and your beloved pets!”

Frequently asked questions

Animal physiotherapy involves the use of physical techniques to improve mobility, reduce pain, and enhance overall well-being in animals. It can benefit pets recovering from surgery, injury, or chronic conditions by promoting healing, increasing strength, and improving quality of life. Common techniques include therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and modalities like heat or cold therapy, laser and hydrotherapy.

Signs that your pet might benefit from physiotherapy include difficulty moving, limping, stiffness, pain, or reduced activity levels. If your pet has had surgery, sustained an injury, or suffers from a chronic condition like arthritis, physiotherapy can be an effective part of their recovery or management plan. Drop us an inquiry or consult your veterinarian to determine if physiotherapy is appropriate for your pet’s condition.

During the initial consultation, our team will perform a thorough assessment of your pet’s health and mobility. This includes a detailed physical examination, discussion of your pet’s medical history, and an evaluation of their specific needs and goals. We will develop a personalized treatment plan and discuss the recommended therapies and expected outcomes with you.

A typical physiotherapy session usually lasts between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the specific treatments and your pet’s condition. Our aim is to ensure that each session is tailored to your pet’s needs and comfort.

The number of physiotherapy sessions required varies based on your pet’s condition, response to treatment, and recovery goals. During the initial consultation, we will provide an estimated treatment plan and discuss the expected frequency, duration of sessions and an expected timeline for rehabilitation.

To prepare your pet for a physiotherapy session, ensure they are comfortable and relaxed. Bring any relevant medical records or reports, and make sure your pet is up-to-date on vaccinations. It’s helpful if your pet is well-rested and has been exercised gently before the appointment. Prior to your session with us, it is advised to allow your pet to relief itself for a more comfortable visit.

We are located in Fort Canine Swimming Club over at Clarke Quay. Our office hours are 10am – 7pm, Tuesday through Saturday and 9am – 1pm on Sundays. Please contact us for any holiday hours or to schedule an appointment outside regular hours if needed.

While a referral from your veterinarian is not always required, it is highly recommended. A referral helps us understand your pet’s medical history and ensures that physiotherapy will be integrated into their overall care plan. You can schedule an appointment directly, but we may request that you obtain a referral to provide the best care for your pet.

Yes, we encourage pet owners to observe and participate their pet’s physiotherapy sessions. This allows you to be involved in your pet’s care and helps you understand the exercises and treatments being used.

If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please notify us as soon as possible. You can contact us via phone at +65 89458708 or email at info@thepetphysio.sg. We request at least 12 hours’ notice to avoid any cancellation fees and to allow us to offer the appointment slot to another pet in need.
